Day 1 (Zagreb – arrival)
As you land at Zagreb airport, you will be met by your personal driver and taken to your hotel. The first day will be to settle and experience the beautiful city of Zagreb on your own.
Day 2 (City Centre & Mirogoj)
Once you had your breakfast, you will meet your driver and your morning tour of Zagreb will begin. You will start from Ban Jelacic Square, and will walk all the way to the Cathedral, St. Mark’s Church and Stone Gates. Through these mesmerising buildings you will see Zagreb’s culture and history. After exploring the Upper and Lower Town, you will have a lunch break, from where you will continue the tour to Mirogoj, the most beautiful cemetery in Europe. The cemetery is also a park, so you can walk through it and see all of the monuments and statues of famous people buried there. When the tour is finished, you are more than welcome to take some free time and explore the city of Zagreb on your own.
Day 3 (Veliki Tabor & Grešna Gorica)
After breakfast in your hotel, you will head to the Croatian hinterland, with the first stop after a drive of about an hour and a half, in Veliki Tabor which is a 15th century fortress in Zagorje. It is one of the most important cultural and historical monuments of Croatia. It dominates in its location, on top of the Hum Kosnicki, 333 meters above sea level. It is an impressive sight and makes a unique picture that will leave no one indifferent. After seeing the fortress, you will continue to Grešna Gorica, just 5 minutes away from the fortress. It is a family run rural tourism business which started in 1996. They collected old objects which are typical for country living to give a rustic atmosphere in their restaurant. Tasting traditional dishes and local wines and beverages, whilst being surrounded by vineyards and meadows, you will surely have the feeling of being somewhere in medieval times. After this exciting trip, you will head back to Zagreb and can have some free time exploring the city on your own.
Day 4 (Trakošćan Castle, Kumrovec & Varaždin)
Early in the morning, you will have a tour of the other cities in the Croatian Hinterland. First, you will visit the glorious castle of Trakošćan, which is an hour and a half far away from Zagreb, through green hills, picturesque landscapes, passing fairy tale castles and vineyards. Trakošćan castle is situated at the top of a hill and it is one of the most beautiful in Croatia, as you will see when you arrive. Outside the castle, you can take a nice walk through the park by the lake and enjoy the scenery. After sightseeing, you will continue to the small city of Kumrovec, surrounded with ruins of Cesargrad and forest slopes near the river Sutla, which has a memorial statue for the Croatian National Anthem “Lijepa Naša”. The most famous village in the world, as their locals like to call it, is the “Staro selo”, which is a unique open-air museum and has original, preserved country houses from the 19th century. Visitors are able to experience the lifestyle that was traditional for 19th century people in that part of Croatia, such as country weddings, craftsmanship, carpentry craft, pottery, etc. After a lunch break in Kumrovec, you will continue your tour to Varaždin, which is one of the most beautiful and oldest cities in Croatia. As well as being the previous capital city of Croatia and rich in cultural heritage, Varaždin has illustrious architecture which you will experience and see during your walking tour. You will hear the amazing stories about the city, as you walk by the Cathedral of the Assumption, the Monastery of St. John the Baptist and the Varaždin Town Hall. There will be some free time just to wander around the city’s street, after which you will head back to Zagreb.
Day 5 (Plitvice)
Early in the morning, after having breakfast, you will continue your tour south, visiting the Plitvice National Park, located in the heart of Croatia, two hours’ drive from Zagreb. The Plitvice Lakes present a unique cultural and natural value not only in Croatia but around the world. It earned its spot on the UNESCO’s list of World Heritage places with its remarkable beauty. You can walk through the forests, besides lakes and see waterfalls by the rivers. Plitvice lakes are constantly evolving, as the water changes course and makes new picturesque images. While in Plitvice, you will be able to try some delicious local food, as you will have lunch there, after which you will continue to Zagreb. When you arrive at the hotel, you have free time for your own exploration of the city.
Day 6 (Lake Bled & Ljubljana)
As you had your breakfast, you will meet your driver in front of the hotel and start your trip to Slovenia. After around two and a half hours’ drive, your first stop will be at Lake Bled, which is one of the main landmarks and places of outstanding beauty in Slovenia. With an island in the middle of the lake and mountains surrounding it from every side, it looks like it’s from a fairy tale. After a relaxed walk around the lake, you will have a lunch break and then continue your trip to Ljubljana, the capital of Slovenia, with a short drive of 50 minutes. When you arrive in Ljubljana, you will be taken to your hotel, after which you will have free time.
Day 7 (Ljubljana – departure)
The last day of this tour will be at leisure for you to have some free time in Ljubljana, depending on how much time you will have before departure of your flight. You will be taken to the airport by your driver around 2 hours before your international flight, as you will have enough time for check-in and finding your gate for departure, as airport in Ljubljana is quite small, so you will not have any trouble finding your way.
